Pointblog is one of the biggest blog in France. It is one of the best source regarding the french blogosphere, its major trends, characters and figures.

Bertrand Lenotre from the Pointblog team has just been kind enough to interview me about the role of blogs within the viral & buzz marketing actions we have been launching for the past 2 years with our specialized agency, Culture-buzz.

I have tried to explain him how major brands are now beginning to understand the importance and power of word-of-mouth marketing. Return on investment, impact, speed, credibility,... buzz and viral campaigns are definitely a new tool that brands should adopt in addition of their traditional marketing. Blogs of course represents one of the best tools to identify and connect with numerous influential within their industry.

Brands should try to forget about their interruption marketing habits and begin to accept practicing "collaborative marketing". It is all about involvement, real interactive two ways communication with their clients. In 2005, I have been proud to work with many brands like Warner Bros, Nokia or Sony,... that had courage enough to adopt buzz, blog and viral marketing approaches and put back power into the customers hands. Of course it is hard to accept to loose a bit of power and accept bloggers feedback with no filter, but the gained credibility is definitely worth it.
