Social Media and Brand Reputation Strategy - eMarketer
Asked what their company had done to minimize negative comments in the past, nearly one-half reported having directly engaged with the consumer. The second-most-common strategy was longer-term in focus: trying to improve products and services.
Nearly two-thirds (63%) of companies reported responding to tweets, and 34% responded “systematically.”

Newspapers Join in Twitter Conversation - eMarketer
The study, which looked at the top 100 daily newspapers in the US, found that all the papers had at least one Twitter account, but many failed to publicize their Twitter use effectively. Nearly two-fifths of papers did not have a link to Twitter anywhere on their Website, and among those that did, many were hard to find. Still, 56% of newspapers maintained a directory on their Website of all the accounts associated with the outlet.

Social Media Marketing budget are going to boom in 2010
Most social marketing dollars (60%) next year will go toward staff salaries for activities such as blogging, content development and monitoring of social channels. Another two-fifths will be spent on outside help from agencies, consultancies and service providers.

Web Users in France Trust Internet Most - eMarketer

In December 2008, only 20 percent of people in the 25-34 age bracket used Twitter, but now 31 percent can be found DMing and @ replying. Tweeting while driving...
Although 60% of Twitter users reported using only their computer to access the service, microbloggers are highly mobile, accessing social media from the washroom, the car, the theater and even during a religious service.
A September 2009 study from Retrevo found that among those under age 35, 39% of Twitter users and 27% of Facebook users checked the sites at least 10 times every day.

Online ad spending has been fortunate in the economic downturn—recession-resistant due to its high level of accountability, Internet ad revenue growth has remained positive as spending in all other media dropped.

Social Site Users Depend on Their Networks - eMarketer
Users put great trust in their social networks. One-half of Beresford respondents said they considered information shared on their networks when making a decision—and the proportion was higher among users ages 18 to 24, at 65%.
“This is a particularly important finding,” according to the report, “in that it suggests that these younger users have integrated social networks into their lives to such an extent that it has become a trusted resource for their decision making.”
