The 19th of March, don't miss the FT ArcelorMittal Boldness in Business Awards

Boldness awards

ArcelorMittal (one of Vanksen Client) is celebrating "boldness in Business" with the Financial Times despite (and maybe especially during) the present gloomy context. They are organising the "Boldness Awards" and even I was surprised to see that the leading world steel maker once again took some daring path in choosing the nominees : from Google to Ryanair or Nomura, they all have been selected according the following criteria : Drivers of Change, Corporate Responsibility, Environment, Emerging Markets, Entrepreneurship, Lifetime Achievement. Let's see who are going to be the winners.

You can even participate by voting for the readers' awards category between American Apparel,
HCL Technologies, Nintendo, Santander  or....  Twitter!

Eating at Drouant with Jean-Charles de Castelbajac

Wow, at lunch today I just had the pleasure to replace Greg (gone in Spain to speak at a conference) for an interesting lunch with Jean-Charles de Castelbajac at Drouant Restaurant (famous & symbolic because the jury of the prize in French literature Prix Goncourt are electing the winner there every December since 1903!!!).

Jeancharlesdecastelbajac

No I didn't knew this famous French legend of fashion design before today... I was presently invited to be part of the jury with Anne Marie Sargueil (French Institue of Design), Benoit Laumaillé (Beaubourg Center & Printemps Design), Marie Jo Malait (Journalist), Simon Pillart (Munchausen), Françoise Flament (La Grande Epicerie du Grand Marché), Frédérick e. Grasser-Hermé (Food consultant), Nelly Manoukian (TBWA), Sylvia Vitale Rotta (Team Créatif), Hervé Geffroy (Monoprix), Sylvian Hantz (Designer), Amélie Vidal-Simi(Henkel), Anne Wallois (Henkel), Arnaud Plas (Henkel) and Jean-Renaud Lutt (Henkel) for the "Dessine moi Mir" campaign organized by Bernadette Vizioz with great talent for Henkel.

Mir_1

Yes Henkel, one of the representative companies of the old mass production industry and washing powder best salesmen has made the choice of creativity and 2.0. It is even already the second time that Henkel has invited more than 400 students of fashion, design, graphic... schools to compete and invent innovative designs for one of their most popular cleaning product in France : Mir. The operation was a great success last year : lots of creativity, a lot of exposure + money and fame for the students and lot of PR and a strong increase of the sales for Henkel's temporarily customized products!

Mirarnaudplas

The brand has chosen to renew the experiment the experience this year. 400 projects were first selected. After a preselection, we had to keep only 8 of them out of a selection of 49 today. The choice was really tough. Every student was offered a few minutes to present his creation to the jury that took a lot of enthusiasm in exchanging opinions and feedback... I just regretted that sometimes students were only taking care about design while totally forgetting to understand the brand DNA and spirit. Hopefully, many concepts were great, fresh and imaginative.

Mirhenkel

The 8 chosen ones will now be published on the Internet (the new website will be created by Vanksen|Culture-Buzz ;) ) in a few days and web users are going to select the best one, that will be really produced and sold everywhere in teh supermarket in France!

Gromob : qui y était?

Gromob

CEO Bloggers club in Paris

Once again, I met with other CEO bloggers in Paris for an interesting networking dinner under the initiative of Guillaume du Gardier who is now working for Edelman. The usual entrepreneurs were there such as the talent hunters aka Jacques Froissant and Richard Menneveux who launched a new job search engines with Moovement . Charles Nouyrit , has just left the Group Reflect to join the entreperneur world with The Todeka Project about online identity management. Thierry did a photocoverage and Franck Perrier shot a video of the dinner published on Eyeka, the new video sharing platform he is CEO of.

Ceo_bloggers

Finally I had a long and instructive talk with Christian Jegourel (photo below) who has launched YouVox with Laurent Esposito. Somewhere between Agoravox, the social media group and Obiwi (look at their interview by Jean Michel Billaut), they have reinventing magazines online with a really smart web2.0 and user generated aproach. The night was just too short to speak with Francis Lelong who just left Sarenza for a new aventure related to sport.

Colophon 2007 : International Creative Magazines meet in Luxembourg

Colophon_luxembourg_2007_1
Many seems to believe (and wrongly I must say) that Luxembourg is a quiet and lost little place ;)
Luxembourg2007bigSo for those who don't know, Luxembourg has been selected as European HeadCity of the Culture for the Year 2007. This "title" means that an amazing number of great  events is happening all around the year.

Colophon_luxembourg_2007_2
If you were in the Grand Duchy between the 9 and the 11 of march you could have attempt to one of the most creative event : Colophon 2007. Organised by Mike Koedinger, a Luxembourgish magazine editor and addict (who publishes some of the biggest magazines here in lux : Paperjam, Explorator, ex-Nico, ...), this event had for objective to invite the most creative magazines internationally.

Colophon_luxembourg_2007_6
Mission accomplished as I have been able to see.

Colophon_luxembourg_2007_7
For 3 days I have been able to talk with editors, designers, illustrators, magazines fanatics from Brazil, Lituania, Asia, France, Netherlands, UK,...
Colophon_luxembourg_2007_10

The Casino d'Art Contemporain was hosting most of the event and offering enough space for the participants to move from the conference room to exhibits area...

Colophon_luxembourg_2007_23

...to the bar or to a temporary shop (base in the veranda, aka the aquarium) selling an amazing selection of the most creative mag. From content to design it was an amazing occasion to crawl around creativity...

Post Blogdelux Party

It was really nice to meet around 40 bloggers in Differdange lats saturday during Blogdelux, the first meeting of bloggers in Luxembourg. Thanks again to all the coorganizers and the one who supported us (bloggers, media,...). Hope to see the next edition coming soon...

Lola2lux made quite a good summary of the event there. But many other published feedback such as Jean-Jacques (ex french amabassador with a real wisedom and interesting questions about the blog phenomenon), Jean-Christophe Dupuis-Rémond (blogger and journalist for France3), Thorben (Luxembourgish blogger and now TV star ;) ). I had a long and interesting talk with Joël but time was a bit too short to have enough time to exhange with everyone such as Laurent, Frederico, Anekdote.net, Moijuju or missKitty (in visit from Geneva),... Atryu came from Belgium and shot amazing pictures that you can watch here. Stéphane Tauziede made a cool videocast and a nice summary of the event. and is inviting bloggers who want to learn how to podcast to contact him.

Adoptez cette banner

Weytjens or Pinto, Carlos Roso et Raùl Reis (Luxembourgo Officioso) have published a report in Portuguese, while Arnolux, Vincent (aka Droopy), Metzblog, Vanou, Paulo Lobo choosed French.

Media didn't forgot to show up... have a look at the videos shot by RTL TV :

By Tango TV :

Or France 3:

Press was there too with Contacto, the newspaper of the portuguese community.

Contacto_blogdelux

To conclude, that was a great opportunity to meet lots of new faces or to put a face on a blog. As always there is room from improvement... Languages is definitely a challenge in Luxembourg but I believe enthousiasm and open mindeness  are great enablers. Blogdelux blog is now open and we will try to publish interviews and info about the blogosphere from Luxembourg and the surroundings countries (Belgium, France, gerany > The great region). Feel free to contact us with ideas and suggestions for the site or the next event.
